Police have arrested four persons, including a counselor, for allegedly attending a psychological program at a school in the Haliela area.
Police said that a counseling program was being conducted for children at a college in the Haliela Police Division yesterday (01).
The police who acted accordingly have gone to the relevant school and commenced investigations.
It has been revealed that the approval of the Provincial Director of Education or the Zonal Director of Education has not been obtained to carry out the relevant program.
According to the police, it was also revealed that the instructor who conducted the program was not qualified to conduct such programs at any registered institution.
Police found three vehicles, an air rifle and 129 rounds of ammunition in the possession of the three security guards who accompanied the advisor.
The Police Media Spokesman’s Office stated that the four suspects and the relevant property have been taken into police custody in connection with the incident.
The suspects are aged 23, 24, 30 and 36 and are residents of Chilaw, Ratmalana and Negombo.
The suspects are to be produced before the Badulla Magistrate’s Court today (02) and the Haliela Police are conducting further investigations.
The Police further requests the relevant authorities to refrain from inviting such unknown persons as well as persons who are not suitable for school into schools when dealing with school children.
