The Supreme Court has directed the Attorney General to submit a report on the current Cabinet Ministers and State Ministers within two weeks.
The order was made by a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court when a fundamental rights petition was filed today (08) alleging that the present cabinet was appointed in a manner that violates the Constitution.
The fundamental rights petition filed by Engineer Kapila Renuka Perera was taken up before a three-judge bench comprising Justices Vijith Malalgoda, Yasantha Kodagoda and Mahinda Samayawardena today (08).
The petition will be called back on January 27 for consideration.
