Veteran actor Robin Fernando has passed away

Veteran actor Robin Fernando has passed away.

He was 84 years old at the time of his death.

Born the third child of his family on June 15, 1937 in Kotahena, Colombo, Mr. Robin Fernando’s father worked in the Government Printing Department. Cyril Anthony was also a Chief Foreman in the Printing Division of Gunasena Company.

Mr. Violet Anthony is the mother of Mr. Robin Fernando.

Robin Fernando has two older sisters and two younger sisters.

Robin Fernando was educated at St. Benedict’s College, Colombo during the Second World War.

He is a nationally acclaimed athlete for karate and gymnastics.

After completing his schooling in 1863 he joined the Mackwood Company in Colombo.

Robin Fernando was married on October 14, 1964 to Violet Jayaweera whom he had met about two years earlier. Robin and Violet have one daughter.

He was introduced to film director Titus Thotawatte by Ariyaratne Kahawita.

Robin Fernando first contributed as a stuntman in the movie Hingana Kolla.

However, his first feature film was Ariyaratne Kahawita’s Chandiya, which was released in 1965.

However, the second film starring Robin Fernando, Fishermen, was released before the first film.
That was in 1964.

At the time of his death, it was reported that Robin Fernando had acted in nearly 90 films.

Mr. Fernando directed his first film, Angels, in 1983 and based it on a true story.

His last directorial venture was Ninja Sri Lanka.

Robin Fernando’s first television performance was in England through the star of Sriyani Amarasena’s Irabatu.

Chandramaya, Hangimuttam, Paradise and Damini Robin Fernando are some of the other teledramas that have hit the screens.

Chandiya, Fishermen, Hidden Shadow, Cunning, Someone, Biggest Laughter, Siripala & Ranmanika, Sikurulia, Apeksha, Sapta Kanya, Four Lakhs, Weera Puranappu, Sankapali, Sinhabahu, Bamba Ketu Hati, Muwanpelessa 2, Sundarai Adare, Underworld, Leader, Julia, Susima, Life is Beautiful, Maharaja Ajasath, Love I are some of the films he has joined.
