Individual killed in gunfire by a Constable in Batti

A driver of a tipper has been shot and killed by a Police Constable deployed for security at State Minister S Viyalanderan’s residence in Batticaloa.

Police said the Constable has been arrested while his firearm has been seized.

According to investigations a quarrel between the Constable and the driver of the tipper three days ago led to the shooting.

Further investigations are being conducted by the Batticaloa Police.

State Minister Viyalanderan was not at home at the time of the shooting.
